The winners will receive a tool for opening locks or cylinders as a prize. All competitors will receive a certificate of participation.
RULES
Only 10 participants, who will receive a personal invite in advance, are admitted to the competition. Each contestant will be randomly assigned a table with 5 stations, one for each specialty. The locks and cylinders on each table are all the same and with the same bittings (ka).
Station 1
Opening a padlock with a traditional key, time limit 5 minutes, 6 points in case of opening, otherwise 1 minute penalty.
Each contestant shall use their own lock picks. Only manual lock picks are allowed.
Station 2
Opening a euro profile cylinder with dimple key, time limit 6 minutes, 8 points in case of opening, otherwise 1 minute penalty.
Each contestant shall use their own lock picks. Only manual lock picks are allowed.
Station 3
Impressioning a key for an euro profile cylinder, time limit 30 minutes, 10 points in case of opening, otherwise 4 minutes penalty.
Each contestant shall use their own files and lenses or visors and lights. Key blanks and a vice are provided.
Station 4
Opening a double bitted four throw lever lock, time limit 15 minutes, 3 points for each throw in case of opening. 4 minutes penalty if all the four throws have not been opened.
The specific 2in1 tool is provided.
Station 5
Opening and decoding a car door lock. Time limit 15 minutes, 8 points in case of opening, plus 1 point for each lever correctly decoded.
After having opened the lock, the contestant must mark the decoded bittings on a card and show it to one of the competition assistants who will verify the key code. He will tell right away how many levers are wrong (not which one). The contestant can make a maximum of 3 attempts, if the reading is correct the corresponding key will be inserted to open the lock and make a buzzer sound.
The specific LISHI tool is provided.
HOW THE COMPETITION WORKS
The contestant will sit on the first chair on the left of the assigned table, in front of the first station, waiting for the start.
When the contestant opens the lock, he will say “APERTO” or “OPEN” leaving the lock or cylinder in the open position. Then he can move to the chair to his right, and start with the next station lock immediately.
If the contestant does not open each station lock within the time limit, at the “STOP” signal he must wait the penalty time before being able to move on to the next station.
The penalty time gives a time advantage to those who manage to finish the challenge, even if at the last second, compared to those who don’t open the lock.
The end of the penalty time will be signaled by the competition judge who will say “GO”, and even the competitors who have not opened their lock will be able to move on to the next station.
The contestant can choose to extend the time for opening the lock he is working on even after the deadline (to earn the score), however, he must wait the penalty time immediately at the end of the time allowed for that station before continuing.
The competition judge may decide to extend the time allowed for a station if towards the end of the test only a few contestants have completed it. It will alert everyone by saying KEEP GOING FOR _ MORE MINUTES instead of saying STOP.
The competition rankings will be determined based on the points obtained and, in the event of a tie, on the total time taken by each contestant.
Good luck!
